Legal Services, WI Unemployment
If you are seeking legal advice or representation for a Wisconsin unemployment matter, blog author Michael Brown, an Employee Rights Attorney at Peterson, Berk & Cross, offers the options below.
If you wish to arrange any of these options, please call Peterson, Berk & Cross at 920-831-0300, or email mbrown@pbclaw.com.
- Phone consultation (1 to 1.5 hours, available to all WI callers): $195.
This option includes: (1) an initial phone call with our firm, where you can provide information about your unemployment matter; (2) Mr. Brown’s review of your information; and (3) a 1 to 1.5 hour phone consultation with Mr. Brown, who will provide advice for your specific WI unemployment matter.
This consultation is essentially a coaching session to help prepare for your unemployment proceeding, focusing on the potential themes, strengths, weaknesses, and dos and don’ts involved with your matter. If you wish, you can read this blog post about preparing for an unemployment hearing, prior to the consultation.
- Office consultation (1 to 1.5 hours, available only at firm’s Appleton, Green Bay and Oshkosh offices): $195.
Same as above, but consultation is an in-person meeting with Mr. Brown at the firm’s Appleton, Green Bay or Oshkosh office.
- Unemployment Hearing Representation (1 to 1.5 hours, available only to employees in Appleton, Green Bay and Oshkosh areas): 10% of total of 26 weeks’ unemployment benefits (up to $920).
Includes (1) the same legal services above, (2) a second office meeting to prepare for unemployment hearing, (3) attorney representation at the hearing, and (4) attorney representation for an appeal of the hearing (if any) at the administrative level.
The cost of these services is 10% of the total of 26 weeks of weekly unemployment benefits, capped at $920. For example, if your weekly unemployment benefit is $355 per week, then 26 weeks x $355/week x .10 = $923. In this example, the your legal services fee would cost the capped amount of $920.
If you don’t expect to be unemployed for long (which is hopefully the case!), then paying the costs of full hearing representation, up to $920, may not be financially feasible.
To arrange any of the options above, please call Peterson, Berk & Cross at 920-831-0300, or email mbrown@pbclaw.com.
